Each child’s learning journey begins with an initial assessment, carried out collaboratively by our Therapists and Homeroom Teacher, to identify areas requiring additional support. Progress is continuously monitored through classroom observations and dynamic assessments, which are regularly updated to reflect each child’s growth and development.

Core Subjects of Instruction
At Royal Britannia SEN Nursery, teaching and learning are guided by a holistic, play-based approach that nurtures each child’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive growth. Our curriculum follows the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, encouraging children to learn through exploration, creativity, and meaningful experiences. Every child’s journey is supported through an inclusive and therapeutic environment that integrates Sensory Play and Sensory Integration activities to enhance focus, emotional regulation, and body awareness.
Prime Learning Areas
Communication and Language - Children develop listening, understanding, and speaking skills through songs, stories, role play, and interactive discussions. Our Speech and Language Therapy team supports communication development by modelling language, building vocabulary, encouraging turn-taking, and promoting expressive and receptive language in natural play and daily routines.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) - We help children build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships. Through group play, emotional-regulation games, and circle time, children learn to share, express feelings, and understand empathy. Music Therapy and Sensory Integration activities are used to help children express emotions, develop self-awareness, and regulate their behaviour in a calm, structured way.
Physical Development - Children strengthen fine and gross motor skills through sensory-rich movement, outdoor play, and coordination games.
